Re: WT: Transcript of a Conversation with Dan Snyder
I have not been a huge supporter of Synder but I saw a lot of good points from his responses and hopefully this is a result of growing wiser as he pointed out. I like that he stated how important age is when pursuing free agents (and my impression on this reponse is that we are never going to have another year 2000 shopping spree on over the hill veteran free agents). Even though I am a bigger advocate of building through the draft I do want an owner that will spend to retain the team's own free agents and also be willing to pay bucks to bring in a piece or two from the outside - the last thing we want for an owner is one that is not willing to pay and more concerned about the bottom line over winning.
I also like that they are constructing an indoor practice facility. I know many of you think the Skins should practice no matter what outside - but if you are in a playoff game against a dome team like the Vikings it makes more sense to practice indoors to make game conditions as close as possible to gameday.
I also like that he took time to find that next coach instead of just rushing to fill the vacancy - you can't blame him for taking time.
As far as one point I don't like is his take on Fed Ex Field. I don't agree with the surveys that he was referring to that fans really enjoy the stadium as much as he says. I would make a bet that if you asked fans if they liked RFK vs Fed Ex it would not even be close with RFK getting overwhelming support. One of the main reasons being is that Fed Ex Field is terrible for traffic and not being Metro accessible is a huge negative.
Overall I think the Skins and Dan Synder are moving in the right direction and I think good things are soon to come.
