Could it be one of those situations where it had been happening all along but was mainly unreported until that massive collapse in NYC? And since one crane sotry was big news the media feels like they should jump all over every similar story.
Or do you really think that all of a sudden cranes are just unable to hold up?
Maybe it has to do with the fact that Americans are getting a lot fatter.
