I read the same thing, but I believe it was because at RFK, there were long shadows from the rafters that stretched into the endzone, and with the burgundy jerseys the receivers were harder to see.
I don't think they have that problem at Fed Ex.
Personally, I'd like to see the burgundy jerseys and white pants at home for every game except Dallas -- you know, just to screw with them.
