I recall, from a Monday Night Football broadcast from many moons ago, that sprinters always have issues when trying to become wide receivers. One reason being that you're never sure that they can catch (obviously). However, the bigger issue is that sprinters tend to bob their head when they run, as an NFL receiver you can't afford to do this because then the ball will be moving all over your field of vision and it will throw off your hand eye coordination. As a receiver your head must be far more still when you're running, sprinters have trouble adapting to a new running style.
