Re: Former Redskins great lit fire under Moss
"i was worrying too much about how I was being used in the offense."
Ironically, i started to get the feeling moss had given up on this team and coaching in that MNF where he was brewing on the bench complaining to CP that we werent calling the plays that we had practiced all week on. CP told him to keep his head up. We all know what happened after that.
I believe moss really did lose focus during the Gibbs era, he just didnt have confidence in the coaches. (even though on paper, a speedy receiver is needed to convert on those long play action passes you spent 3 quarters setting up with the ground n pound).
I said it before the season that moss wasnt 100% dedicated to the skins, but this year with a new coach and system he seems to be back on board and that really helps not just on the field but in the locker room. You cant have marque players being distant or not 110% dedicated. Alot has been said about the positive intangibles that CP being in the weight room during the off-season has brought (even if he did need alil monetary incentive to show up in his reworked K).
Im not saying moss was visibly stewing or making his discontent public, hes a professional 100%, but when a star player isnt fully committed other players notice and it has a lingering detrimental effect. It separates good teams from champions, kinda cheesy disney-esque but i played on some pretty high level teams (not football) and team chemistry starts well before the pads are put on.
sorry for the rant, its just my opinion, glad moss is back on board (if he ever was off it).
go skins!!!
