Our first three draft picks in 2008 so far have been extremely underwhelming. Hopefully they'll do better next year. However, if you are going to put ALL your best picks into one basket - WR/TE, then at least one of them has to be a quick winner. That has not happened.

Using some of your best draft picks in the OL and DL is a prudent investment in the future. So far over the last decade all we done is go for the flashy positions and neglected the foundation. 'Building the house from the top down'.

In year two as pseudo-GM lets see how Vinny does in his drafting. I suggest he will move toward the lines this year as a correction from last.
I will say this: if the plan was to address the lines AND the receivers, then Vinny was smart to address receivers first. It is a more difficult position to master.

But I'm guessing by the way he dealt a pick for Jason Taylor, and didn't really do his homework as well as I believe he could have on the receiver class. (Davis is a fine pick where we got him, but Vinny had him graded as a first rounder, which apparently, no one else in the NFL did) So I'm less than optimistic that his solution to the line problem will actually solve the problem.
