- The Scheme -Greg Blache is too commited to stoping the run and in turn doesn't give our DE's enough freedom to set up opposing offensive lineman.
- The offense - is preventing us from getting leads big enough that our front four can rarely let loose and unload on opposing offenses. As a result teams are able to keep us honest by using the run since we can't generate a lead big enough for opponents to consider abandoning the ground game.
- The 4-3 - Teams are starting to figure our the 4-3 and everyone knows that the 3-4 is better for getting after the passer in today's NFL.
- The personnel - Either your blaming Taylor and Carter outright or you feel the defense's inability to get a good push up the middle is going a long way towards getting our DE's from getting to the Quarterback.
- Other - Anything from blaiming the front office to the possibility that space aliens are using graviton beems that fire on our players at the most inconvient moments.
Personally I'm starting to think the offense is to blame.

The offense? I mean, if the problem was that it was turning the ball over, giving too many short fields/sudden change situations, and the defense was giving up too many points, then yeah you'd have the offense to blame.
But our offense is near the bottom of the league in total turnovers, and frequently gives the defense long field to work with while consuming time off the clock. Our offense is a defenses' best friend, and actually makes it's job easier than one that scores a lot of points and kicks off a lot.
I believe it's mainly a blitz-happy scheme, but it might be the personnel. That's really all it can be, right? I mean, 3-4 vs. 4-3, we don't confuse anyone with our blitz packages, and rarely pressure everyone. That's part because we don't have good pass rushing LBs, which is personnel, but the total product is scheme-oriented.
So it's less about run fits and play recognition as it is about a scheme that requires ends to attack the offense a certain way, which doesn't necessarily give them a chance.
Props for the thread though.
