His average yards per rush this year is 12th overall in the NFL. His yards per game is 95, 3rd in the league. Hardly average.

Again, I am not a Portis hater, I just don't think he is a great back. He is probably the 4th best RB in the NFC east!

I agree he is not a great back, but a very good back. I'd rather have him than Westbrook, Barber or Ward (I would love to see Jacobs in "maroon & black" tho).

If you are a Skins fan and have watched every game over the past 5 years ask your self the following questions
1. How many 30+ runs has CP had?
2. How many times does he just fall over in the open field when he has the chance to break a long run?
3. How many times does he make a defender miss in space
4. How many times has Portis been stopped on 3rd and 1 or at the goal line?

Sorry don't have them all DVR'd and my memory isn't that great.
1. Portis is not a "HR hitter" type back anymore. He also doesn't have WRs who block very well (outside of Thrash) allowing for long TD runs to be broken. He's an excellent all-around back, he's gotten bigger & stronger to go between the tackles better, he can catch out of the backfield, he pass-pros well.
2. Not many I recall.
3. Frequently, more so in the check-down passing game or on screens.
4. Goal line, not so much. 3rd & short, that was an issue early in his time here, but he's bulked up and I don't think this is as much of an issue now. I would like a Brandon Jacobs type back to compliment him. Unfortunately Duckett wasn't the answer.
My problem with Portis is his mouth and stamina. No way a featured back heads to the sideline inside the 20 unless he's hurt. I wouldn't categorize this as "sucking wind" after one or two runs, but he needs to finish drives.
