The only time I ever felt like the Redskins were truely going in the right direction since Snyder has owned the team was during the second half of the season Marty was here. VC was gone and Snyder was in the background and the team really seemed like it had a plan and was heading somewhere. And I am probably the biggest Gibbs fan in the world but even during the years he was here you always knew in the back of your mind that he was going to leave eventually and we would be left with VC & Dan again.

I think a proven football man is a person w/ a good track record of handling the football operations of a team. Meaning inside and outside scouting, drafting, free agency, and the cap. If this person doesn't have 1st hand experience, then working along side of a successful franchise GM such as the Ravens, Steelers, Giants, Titans, or some other respected franchise in some high level capacity. Someone that understands today's NFL and today's player. I'd lean towards a younger GM. Someone that comes highly recommended by his peers and highly thought of by his competition.
We have a truly unique franchise w/ an owner that is willing to do anything to win. We're one of the few franchises that can say that.
VC is a personel guy, yes. I just don't think he understands how to build a team. He's had his chance.
