SCHEFTER: COWHER WON’T COACH IN 2009

At a time when the New York media and Jets fans are going bonkos over the possibility of former Steelers coach Bill Cowher joining the team, Adam Schefter of NFL Network turns a fire hose on the frenzy.
“
No matter what anyone says,” Schefter writes, “Bill Cowher is not going to be the
New York Jets next head coach. If he talks to them – which is a possibility simple for the fact that he is smart enough never to big time anybody – it is to do nothing more than to inform them that he is not interested in the New York coaching job in 2009 nor any other head coaching job at this time and he respect[s] the job the Jets do.”
We’ve got no reason to not believe Schefter, but any time we hear anyone say “no matter what anyone says,” we think of Chris Mortensen using the same or similar language in proclaiming that the Houston Texans would draft
