Depends on the size of the TV. On mine, the picture is distinctly sharper and clearer. You can make out detail that is just blurry on DVD. Of course, some people don't care about the difference. The only way to tell if it matters to you is to rent the Blu-ray version of a movie that you have on DVD and do an A-B comparison. I just paused both discs at the same point in the movie and flipped back and forth.
