I know he staked a lot on Smith but he had also put his ego and security aside when they figured out Smith wasn't the answer and benched him. I'd have given him another year.

I guess they saw what Linehan's firing in St. Louis did to that team and wanted to "shake things up". Singletary did an OK job at the end of the season, but we'll see how he does in an entire season.
