yeah i know they said that, but IMO it was a negotiating tactic to scare the owners. i never put any stock in it. by all appearances, if a new CBA isnt reached by 2010, the owners are going to lockout the players in 2011. at that point, a new CBA will be negotiated with a salary cap.

i would be shocked if the lockout lasted more than 4-6 games. once players stop receiving those nice weekly paychecks, theyll push the NFLPA to get something done asap.

In reality, i think 2010 will be uncapped, but a new CBA will be signed DURING the 2010 season: In this economy, teams are NOT going to go crazy thowing cash at free agents. What WILL happen though, is the small market teams will take advantage of the lack of a salary FLOOR in 2010 and not spend money on players. Players will throw a fit and force the union to get something done ASAP. In the end, this scenario works really good for the skins. In 2010, we can cut all our aging vets with huge cap numbers and get them off the books. We can also pay tons of bonus money to players in 2010 so that they have lower cap numbers in 2011 and beyond. Once a new CBA is reached, we'll be positioned to be 20-40M under whatever the new cap is just like everyone else. we'll finally have a "clean slate." Hopefully, by that time, Danny will have learned from his past mistakes and not dig us back into another hole.
