Well, what they told Dawkins isn't untrue. It's leveraging from a position of power. One that, by neccessity, requires that none of the megalomaniac teams freak out and throw something close to ten million dollars guaranteed at a safety over the age of 35.
The Eagles absoulely got boned here. But they did play it by the book. I guess at this point, you look at their cap situation and wonder why they aren't picking their spots better to deviate from the book.
Again, that doesn't make this a wrong move by the Eagles, but the big problem is that you can very easily predict what they are going to do personnel wise.
