From a "football perspective" this is a risky deal because Vick has not yet shown that he is a great QB. He is a "great running QB" but that is not what has won championships in the past.
From a financial perspective this is a smart move by the Falcons' ownership. Vick fills the seats in Atlanta and that is not a town that supports most of its pro sports teams very well - even if they do win. Look at the Braves. They did not sell out their PLAYOFF games for the last two seasons!
If I'm the owner, this is a smart deal for me; if I'm the coach, I might not be quite so thrilled at the moment...
