There's a great paella place in the Gaslamp that opens at 5 pm. If you can get a local to take you, be sure to find one of the Alberto's spinoffs (Super Sergio's or Alberta's nowadays)- order the carne asada fries and thank me later... San Diego's finest (I can't get anything close in LA).
