Re: "Jason Campbell struggles against the Steelers"

I'm willing to show extra patience for JC. I (we) know he put in tons of time and hard work over the off-season. We know he works closely w/ Jim Zorn every day, who took Hasselbeck from mediocre to elite status. And we know JC seems to be a rhythm type of QB...he needs to stay out there and "reestablish" his comfort level seemingly every game, which is part of why I think our offense has often been totally anemic in the first qtr since JC became our starter.

So then my complaints are: outside of the running game and some improved pass blocking our offense looks like it just doesn't practice together much. I know it sounds ridiculous, but I've said it over and over to myself the last couple of years. Yes Kelly got some nice separation before Jason threw the bomb too short. But generally I don't see our WR getting much of any separation from the defenders. I don't see Jason attempt to fire a laser into the brief openings we see. Basically this offense looks like it doesn't know what the hell it's doing IMO. I'd appreciate some truly insightful comments by the gurus - not bs stats, no offense to those stats lovers - that address why we rarely see our WRs wide open in the flat or sandwiched between the CB and S. I hope I'm making sense here. For example, while Batch didn't exactly light it up, at least a handful of times you see him get a little time and suddenly there's a pretty open target...Batch lasers the ball in and shazzam you have a completion. In our offense I rarely see that kind of separation, regardless of the time JC gets back there, and then of course it's a rarity to see him laser the ball to anyone, ever.

Thoughts?
