That didn't work out quite as planned and ARE was the starting flanker and Moss as the starting split end.

Zorn has said on a couple of occasions this summer that Moss will start at the X, and that there is a competition for the starting flanker spot.

I think DT will ultimately be named the starter at flanker because that should be his position long term. And they will continue to develop Kelly as a split end, because that should be his position long term.
That is what I thought too until I saw the depth chart. Whoever is in charge of updating the site over there needs to get on the ball. They are passing off bad information.

I remember the articles about Moss starting as the X now, and that Thomas was supposed to be the Z. What confused me a tad is that I rarely ever used the term Flanker or Split End. I think that Junior high was the last time. I have always used X or Z. So when I went to the official website of the Washington Redskins to see who was what I assumed that the flanker was the X and that the Split end was the Z.

Now that I have thought about it, I understand it. The Split end is the X because it is the End usually lined up on the line of scrimmage and split out wide on the opposite side of the field as the tight end. The Flanker is the Z who is usually lined up wide but in the backfield or off of the LOS. I was never confused about the Y, there is usually ony 1 TE.
