thank you cpayne...my thoughts exactly...

it's amazing how people make a big deal about hits like Lynch's...however, back in the day when there was little to no protection, guys flew around like that all the time. the one example i can think of is Bedarnik laying out Frank Gifford...guys like Butkus and Sam Huff flew around just like Lynch, and we praise them for their efforts...look at how "dirty" the Raiders of the 70s were...yet, nowadays, with state of the art technology and protection, we're concerned for players' safety...which is valid, but not to the point where someone is a punk for doing his job...John Lynch makes one big hit and people are all over him...

these guys don't go game in and game out thinking, "i'm gonna kill someone today" (Kill in the literal sense, not in the war cry adrealine sense)...they know each player has families to support, and lives to lead...

here's the thing...football is a dangerous sport. players go in knowing this...

what's more dangerous than those hits...playing on astroturf...just ask Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin
