OK, whilst I see the logic in trading down, I'd point out that opposition TE's killed us last year. We don't have a safety to scare people and give QB's trouble picking who to throw to. Not to mention run stopping ability.
If Gardner is trade bait, as well as Trotter, there could be teams like the Raiders looking to get more value from their picks, so be willing to trade 2nd and 3rd rounders for established players. I'd look for us to trade up and trade players at that, not down.
