If no I looked at the Cap information on this site and in 2010 Samuels release fee is $14.5 million - if the league were to work out a new collective barganining agreement would the release of Samuels basically cause next year to be over before we know it as we would either have to just let go of a lot of expensive veterans or would the Skins FO redo a massive amount of contracts further hampering our cap future?
I have seen a lot of other posters say maybe Samuels retiring is the best thing as it would cause a complete rebuild/flushing out of high priced veterans and using low priced veterans and really using the draft to build the team for several years. Watching the new guys would be tough for the first couple of years but at least us Skins fans would know that we are finally committed to using a different approach of building the team mainly through the draft and using free agency as a suppliment.

I think the team can place him on the reserve/retired list, and then doesn't have to pay his non-guaranteed salaries without being forced to immediately accelerate the unrealized guaranteed contract money.
