I have no problem with the trophies being on display. They belong to the franchise and can never be taken away. We should be proud of them, the glory days were some great times to be a fan. Growing up I was totally spoiled into thinking playoffs were a given every year and Super Bowls every few years were expected.

The America's Game series is great, I can watch those over and over. I admit the '91 one chokes me up a bit, knowing now that it was truly an end of an era.

You're exactly right Matty. I felt the same way about that '91 team. And what I thought was so ironic was, that team seemed to be the most dominate Redskins team Gibbs had ever assembled.

The funny thing is, when I was a senior in high school in '93, my physics teacher came into the classroom and announced to us that Joe Gibbs had retired. My first thought besides of being in shock was, "Uh oh, end of a great era". I hated the fact that I was so right. I knew things would never be the same again. Even when Gibbs came back, as optimistic as I was, something told me that it wouldn't be a repeat of the 80's. It still was much better than what we have been used to before and after Gibbs II, but it wasn't the same.

That's why for me, it is so hard to "get close" to any of the players we have currently. I guess because it is really hard to say that this player or that player is a true Redskin or a core Redskin. The only one I believe that comes close is Chris Cooley. And as much as I love watching him play, I just can't really look at our current squad and pick out the next lifetime Redskins player. I can't find the next Darrell Green or the John Riggins, Art Monk, or Jeff Bostic. The only current jerseys I have are two Clinton Portis jerseys that two different people gave me for Christmas.

It's hard for me not to live in the past. And for almost two decades now, I have tried to remain faithful and optimistic. But, this season, I think I'm finally starting to have a "fan" breakdown of sorts. It is so frustrating to have that feeling that things will never be better with this team unless something extremely major happens (like Snyder selling it to someone else who KNOWS how to own a professional football team.) Those who have followed my posts since '04 would normally accuse me of being overly optimistic, but probably not now. And you know what? That feeling completely sucks!
