Re: Tony McGee Questions Cheifs
What did Zorn think he would accomplish by putting Todd Collins in for the 2nd half? And while he made a great throw to Moss, the drive stalled on 3 consecutive pass plays. While Campbell didn't have a super day (wasn't that bad either, and ended up posting better numbers than Collins), no one could have had much success behind that pathetic excuse of an offensive line, so why bench your franchise QB at that point? To me, that's a sign of desperation of a man clinging to the last straw that is his job.
Aside from busting a 78 yard run behind Sellars, Portis had 14 carries for 31 yards. Is this a RB who's days are numbered, or again, can't find holes behind an offensive line that can't block? What was the reasoning behind not starting Portis in the 2nd half? Motivation? It's far from obvious that Betts is not the same runner who put up 1000 yards in 6 weeks in the '06 season, so why not keep Portis in?
Speaking of Portis' run, why would anyone call 2 consecutive plays inside the 10 yard line with an empty backfield? That to me killed any kind of momentum going into the rest of the game and set the tone for the kind of offense this team will have the rest of the year.
I hear all the time how this Skins team has the talent on offense to make things happen, that the execution isn't there. Is it time to stop that nonsense and realize that this team just isn't that good?
The three-headed Cerrato monster of Thomas/Kelly/Davis had 1 catch for 12 yards and 1 run for 2 yards yesterday. Are these guys just not getting it? Even with Collins in the game, they couldn't muster any catches. Is it too soon to call these guys a bust?
