It seems like the coaches have identified the wide receiver position as the most seriously in need of improvement.
It makes sense to look at the free agent options. I am sure they will make a good evaluation about Plaxico Burress. It sounds like they would like to sign him, because I don't know who else they would bring in as a free agent who they can build around. Is there anyone who knows the free agents available?
I think that Coles has rejected surgery himself because it puts his career in jeopardy. The Redskins hope that he heals but are going forward with the idea that the best they will be able to count on from him is what we saw this past year, minus the effects of the finger injury - a solid performance but a couple of notches below what we hoped when he arrived on the impact meter. Otherwise, if they expected Coles to be at full speed, we wouldn't be talking about the "wide receiver problem."
My guess is that we will draft a wide receiver at #9 - either Troy Williamson or Braylon Edwards. We will probably bring in a free agent as well, possibly Plaxico Burress. I think that so much depends on improving our wide receivers that they will not think that one player, however promising is going to be the answer.
