Re: Redskins in 2010 Pro Bowl
Fletcher's chances rest with Saints; Carter is 2nd alternate
There is a chance that London Fletcher could play in his first Pro Bowl after all. Fletcher was named a first alternate to the NFC's team, which might not have meant a whole lot in past years. But this year, the Pro Bowl is being played one week before the Super Bowl, so any players who have a role in deciding the league's championship will sit out the all-star game.
What does that mean for Fletcher? Well, if New Orleans reaches the Super Bowl, linebacker Jonathan Vilma would be unable to play in the Pro Bowl -- clearing a path for the first alternate.
Fletcher has never played in the Pro Bowl but was a third alternate each of the past two seasons. He was also alternate in 2002, 2005 and 2006.
Andre Carter has been chosen to the team as a second alternate. Minnesota's Jared Allen, Carolina's Julius Peppers and Philadelphia's Trent Cole were selected ahead of Carter to play defensive end for the NFC's team.
