Maybe a comprimise is to have a couple avatars for each level so a user could choose. That way there is control over what avatars are used and the users get some choice.

I love this idea, the best. Matty all I can do is ask, if you choose to say no I completly understand. Just somthing that I would love to see, but this is your site and you know what works best as the Moderator.
