Re: 79 Mock Drafts: Sam Bradford still Redskins projected choice
Three times in the last decade we've drafted QB's in the first round of the draft, we're still in search of that so called "franchise QB."
The last time we considered choosing a QB in the top five was 1994 (Heath Shuler) need we be reminded of the result? I am reminded however of the pro-bowlers we missed out on that year, notwithstanding the financial aspect and the set back it causes for the team when you miss on your expectation. Take a look at a few players we missed out on as a resut of drafting Shuler.
Willie McGinest
Bryant Young
Sam Adams
Aaron Glenn
Joe Johnson
Todd Steussie
Jamir Miller....And just to provoke a little more controversy we'll throw in Trent Dilfer. A pretty impressive list of players.
Trusting Bruce Allen is not going to formulate his Father's creed in "The Future Is Now" less the team will become old in a hurry. I say if we're going to draft a QB, it would be wise to perhaps try to land a guy like Dan LeFevour if possible, use this year to install principles and philosophies. After the maelstrom that can form as a result of what is expected to be long and complex labor negotiation subside, we will have a blue chip player like LeFevour to promote from within.
