My point, as FRPLG alluded to, is that what worked for Saunders in 2002-2005 when he had top personnel simply hasn't translated outside of the Rams/Chiefs Vermiel system, with other sets of personnel.
Basically, it appears that Saunders was kind of a non-factor in the output of those offenses. That's not to argue that he isn't doing his job as a coach, as he's had success when all of his other parts were built for him and he merely needed to call the plays, but as he added (personnel) responsibility, future success alluded him. Which kind of debunks the myth that he's some great offensive mind held back by quarterbacking in Washington and St. Louis.
Which, to be fair, wasn't skinsfan69's argument. It was irish's argument that I responded to a few months ago.
