USC has been doing shady things forever. When my uncle played them in the Rose Bowl in Jan '80 for the national title Charles White ran over them and USC beat the Buckeyes 17-16 and gave the title to Bama. A week later the NCAA learned that like half the starters didn't even show up for Fall semester finals and were all given A's.
