I played Contra on JNES without "cheats." However what I did do was constantly save so whenever I lost a life I'd go back to the save point. It took me well over a 100 loads to beat the game. How someone could reasonably expect a person to pull that off is beyond me. And all for what? A crappy 8bit picture of a helicopter leaving an island forget it.
