What it says is that the team can go after a prorated portion of a signing bonus if a player renegs or "
willfully or substantially undermines their ability to contribute to training camp or regular season" according to the CBA.
Since the prorated period for the contract is 2010-2015, then as I read it, this is year one and they can go after all of it. If he lays down in 2011, they would only be able to go after 16.8M (21 - 4.2).
I guess it comes down to how an arbitrator would rule on the definition of "willfully or substantially undermining" and how the proration of the bonus would work. Regardless, the Skins have a position legally to allow them to recoup their bonus money if Fatty doesn't play ball. Had they not converted the Option to a Signing bonus, they would have zero recourse.
