You're attacking the symptom and not the problem. The problem is Americans are so rich that they can afford to be lazy and let someone else handle their problems. Most of these "so-called" social problems would take care of themselves if we allowed them to.
"So you knocked up your teenage sweet-heart huh boy? Well pack your shit, get a job, and take care of her. And don't show up for Christmas unless you've got a ring on her finger. If you don't you're no son of mine."
That's how it used to be.

Creating a group of under educated individuals who are more likely than not to end up criminals, living off the public dole, or dying miserable poverty stricken lives. They are also more likely than not to continue the underage sex/pregnancy problem. Maybe they beat the odds and become healthy productive citizens but, without going through the motions, I am sure I could find lots of studies showing both parents and children from teen pregnancy's are likely to end up a drain on society rather than a benefit.
Sure, it solves the parents' problem but it inflicts the results, for good or ill, on the rest of society. If kicking your son into the body politic and cutting off personal support is your solution, then you have made his education the body politic's business.
