I wonder how much the system could change if players could terminate their contracts any time after their sixth season, and declare themselves free agents. You'd have downright craziness.

I mean, this wouldn't apply in the case of Revis, who has only three accrued seasons, but what if a guy like Tom Brady could pay the Patriots back the pro-rated portion of his signing bonus and become a free agent? Just be like, "thanks guys, but you can keep my 4 million salary this year. I can do better than that." Would probably fix a lot of market inefficiencies for players.
