Re: Baltimore.

Oh no, I've encountered blasphemy on the Warpath! Guys, I understand the intense hatred for the Eagles, I live here in the Philly area and these fans are easily the most misinformed of all football fans. Their intense passion for their team only magnifies the fact that they're idiots.

BUT, never ever ever is it acceptable for any Redskins fan to hate anyone more than the Dallas Cowboys.

Bear with me for a second:
November 23rd, 1978. Thanksgiving Day. The Cowboys bombed the Redskins 37-10, embarrassing them in front of a national TV audience. A banner in Texas Stadium read "Washington Slept Here." The Cowboys players called the Redskins "Turkeys", mocking them in Thanksgiving Day style.

From November 27th, 1980 to December 5th, 1982 the Redskins lost 4 straight games to the Cowboys. The game on December 5th was especially painful as Dallas thwarted the Redskins' bid at an undefeated season, dealing the Redskins their first loss of the season. Taunts from Dallas rained down yet again.

The Redskins went on to earn homefield advantage in the NFC playoffs. In their divisional playoff game, with the game in hand, the Redskins fans at RFK began to chant in unison "WE WANT DALLAS!", their voices literally shook the RFK stands. The following week, the Redskins exacted sweet revenge, crushing them 31-17 behind 140 tough yards from John Riggins. Make no mistake, the team's goal was to rip the Cowboys' heart out and pound them with Riggins until their spirits broke in two. And I can't convince you how important this game was, let Joe Gibbs convince you with his words after the victory, "This was the way it was suppose to be, I haven't even thought about the Super Bowl. This is our Super Bowl, this was everything rolled into one. The Redskins versus Dallas, the team we wanted to beat the most. How can you top that?"

Indeed. How can you?

It's important to remember our history, fellas. I'm only 25, I was 4 during that game, so I can't even remember this stuff. The passion for this rivalry has to live on in all of us. We can develop new rivalries for sure, but we must remember that the Cowboys are the team we all need to love to hate. They'll forever remain the team I hate the most. For those younger fans out there learn your history. And if anyone finds themselves feeling more intense hatred for the Eagles, go find something to detest about these Cowboys of today. Go back and view tape of Arrington ending Aikman's career with a concussion, because deep down you know you take satisfaction in that. Go back and watch Vinny T throwing that bomb with 30 seconds last year to beat us yet again. Go back and watch our beloved Coach Gibbs struggle to even look at Parcells in the eyes after those losses this past season, because of how much they personally hurt him. If those losses are hurting Coach Gibbs that much, they need to hurt us just the same; else we may lose touch with what it truly means to be a Redskin fan.
