Part of the "whole story" we're not getting from rankings based on yards (outside of the fact that 'special teams matter') is that the Chargers offense has turned the ball over on an insane 21% of its drives.
But for those keeping track, barely a third of their turnovers have been Rivers interceptions. It's their offensive line that is responsible for increased sack-fumbles, and receivers are just coughing up footballs at an alarming rate in San Diego.
Put simply, while SD is much better than their record, anyone who thinks SD is the best offense in football is using the wrong stats. They're not as good on offense as they were last season.
