Re: 35 Secrets Your Pilot Won't Tell You
In 2005, I was on a civilian plane flying from Fort Leonard Wood, MO, back to Dulles, VA. Shortly after takeoff, a right side rear engine blew. The engine remained unfunctional for the duration of the flight. I would not have been aware of this had it not been for the man seated beside me, a small craft pilot in the US Army, who seeing me in uniform, discreetly told me when it had happened, and assured that we would all be fine. The man told me it is not uncommon for a large commercial jet to sometimes lose 2 engines in a flight, and that 2 remaining engines are more than enough to limp the plane into the nearest airport for repairs.
