Shanahan did a heck of a job with Plummer, probably figured he could do it with DM. Some guys are just more coachable than others, DM obviously wasn't receptive to it for whatever reason.

The Shanahan/Plummer years were not exactly draped in glory. And after a time with Shanahan, Plummer just quit playing football. He said he would rather find other things to do with his life than continue to play football with Shanahan whom he described as a "perfectionist" who was looking for the next John Elway.

I doubt if Mike Shanahan is on Jake Plummer's Christmas card list...
