Maybe it was wrong from the start to inherit the Braves than change it to Redskins, (what the redskins have to do with DC is beyond me) but its fiction.
I always loved The Senators but thankfully we didnt switch to the Nationals- (that name is pretty 'tarded)

It was changed when they were still in Boston and started playing at Fenway. Marshall like the connection between the Red Sox and the Red skins.
Also, I'm almost positive the Senators were originally called the Nationals.
