Portis will at least be afforded an option. Finishing his last two seasons on IR will not bode well in any negotiations with another team. Whether he'll be willing to return at a reduced rate may well depend on the value of any offers he may receive elsewhere.

If he intends to play in 2011, and the Redskins will have him back, he may find whatever offer they make to be his best.
