A 30 year old safety can see 3-5 years of valuable playing time. Further, he can be an on field coach to teach any diamond in the rough type players you might find. We didn't trade a pick, and we didn't put ourself in "cap hell" and we shored up an identified weakness. The great teams have valuable balance of age and youth in their locker rooms. If he was 34 I would be far more understanding of your position, but right now he should bring good leadership.
Should we have cut Fletcher last year simply because of his age?
