Re: Any news on Gardner?
A few thoughts…
1. I don’t want Jason Taylor. Sooner or later he’s going to run out of gas just like Warren Sapp did. Besides, getting Taylor only gives the front office another one of their yearly excuses not to use a high draft pick on a defensive linemen.
2. We’ve heard it here a thousand times. Teams throughout the league already see Rod Gardner like a broken refrigerator sitting outside somebody’s house ready to be picked up by the Salvation Army. And if we’ve thought of it here at the Warpath, you’ve got to believe that other NFL general managers know this and aren’t going to fall for it -- unless of course, the shoe is on the other foot, and it’s Washington’s front office considering such a move.
3. I keep reading how everything Jason Campbell did at Auburn means nothing because he had two good running backs behind him. If that’s the case, what could we expect out of Campbell if Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts are his running backs here?
4. Regarding thought #3: Don’t get me wrong. It would be ridiculous to select Campbell with three quarterbacks already on the roster. The only way it would make any sense is if there’s a way to get rid of that waste of space Mark Brunell. And according to cap figures I’ve heard, it ain’t happening. Not only that, Gibbs doesn’t have time for a project at QB right now.
