re: Bin Laden Killed

Smart move by the Pres. The faster people forget about bin laden the faster what he stood for becomes irrelevant.

Something else ive been thinking a lot about is the timing of the raid. They were pretty sure since August bin laden was there. They were pretty much positive that bin laden was there since feb. Im guessing since august they started looking pretty deeply into if Pakistan was involved or perhaps to what extent Pakistan is involved. Also they were probably hoping other top al qaida officials might get caught when the courier communicated with them. Maybe hoping to get some intel on if al quida has a nuclear bomb or anything they may be planning or how strong they are or how influential bin laden really was anymore. Im also thinking in feb. there was way too much uncertainty going on with Middle East riots… even though things are still far from settled.

It makes sense to do it on May 1st, a Sunday night so youll have a whole week of positive news on the administration. This is clearly good for Obama’s ratings, and doesn’t hurt that this happened right before the start of Republican primaries. Pres Bush declared “Mission Accomplished” 8 years ago to the day….. The news Hitler died was announced on May 1st. And May 2nd is Holocaust Remembrance Day a Federal holiday in Israel. Recently released wikileaks also could have made bin laden feel like the US was getting close and make him change hiding spots, or at least worry the US into thinking he might make a move.

Im thinking this was a pretty calculated date, probably for reasons less-political or coincidental that what I listed above. It may not have been the number one choice but was probably up there and could have been slightly forced by wikileak documents or more likely something we have no idea about.
