Pro Vince: He's a former top 5 pick with all the talent in the world, arm, mobility, height. He was clutch in college and seems to find ways to win even if they aren't pretty. He also opens up the running game like Vick did in Atlanta where teams had to respect him on play fakes. In fact part of the reason CJ28 was so succesful in Tenneesee was due to the fact that teams had to respect Young and protect the backside leaving cut back lanes for Johnson.
He stands up for his teammates and in spite of his off field problems is still a good person. Kyle also knows a good bit about him after having been his teammate at Texas for a year and most likely following him closely after graduation. Young is also younger then Beck so with all things being equal the Skins would get 3 extra years out of Young.
Anti Vince: Vince Young was rarely counted to take over games with his arm. Many of his games have him throwing for under 200 yards. His win-loss record is great but atrocious against playoff teams, not to mention the fact that Kerry Collins went 12-2 in 2008, so chances are the team won in spite of who was under Center.
Also part of the off field problems Young had stemmed from problems with the coaching staff after being benched. Young certainly didn't throw teammates under the bus a la T.O but still created a media distraction. If you bring him on you have to be sure of his ability to beat out Beck and Grossman who are in years 2 and 3 of the Shanahan system. Young also has accuracy problems at times, a quality that cost McNabb dearly in 2010, though it should be noted that Young isn't nearly as bad as McNabb when it comes to accuracy.
If the Redskins were to struggle with Beck and Grossman few would bat an eye at a QB change and Shanahan would have more freedom to play the hot hand. However if the Skins bring in Young and he plays bad enough to get benched then the media will have a field day.
In the end I will trust the coaching staff.

Very good points. I think it is worth the risk bringing VY if he doesn't command a lot of money. Personally, I'd like to see Shanahan take a questionable character and make them work here, instead of going into a d*ck swinging fight with them.
VY is a young QB and hopefully will be looking for a second chance. If Shanny can bring him here, set some rules and expectations regarding his character, and let him compete; I think it could work out. VY is talented, he just needs to be properly motivated.
