Re: Redskins D-coordinator talks frustration over Haynesworth

(2) Driven by that determination to get "something" from Haynesworth they continued to put up with his antics and embarrassments hoping against hope that he would eventually come around. They were just as determined to not just let him walk and not get at least [what they feel] to be equal value in return. Convinced the guy has talent and can still play, they've been content to hold out for the best offer they could get in exchange. As a result, Haynesworth is still here because of the dilemma he presents. When teams are free to make transactions, I believe the conclusion has been reached that it's time to move on from "one" Albert Haynesworth.

Perhaps there is a third reason he is still here:

After showing up out of shape and not being cooperative with the coaches about how and when he would play, Shanahan (with Allen's blessing/concurrence) decided that they were not going to cut Haynesworth and allow him to go out on the open market and take down another 8-figure signing bonus. [Sadly, he would probably get one somewhere...] So they kept him last year hoping to trade him at the draft - - but trades of players were disallowed so that idea went up in smoke.

If my scenario is even close to correct, then Shanahan/Allen have to change their minds about giving Haynesworth the chance at another fat payday and stand by while that happens if they release him. OR they can try for a VERY late round pick in a trade. The problem here is that if my scenario is correct, that means that Shanahan/Allen have to look in the mirror and admit that Fat Albert beat them in this little stand-off. Ego bruises are lots worse than football bruises...
