Re: Sunday Ticket and PS3

Previously in this thread I argued against getting Sunday Ticket because of its short-term and long-term expense. I have since changed my mind. Perhaps my reasons (and my math) will be helpful to some folks.

1) by switching to Directv you get one year of Sunday Ticket for free. 2011 covered.

2) I was paying Dish Network about $80 a month. Because of introductory rates, I get a similar package from Directv for $40 a month for a year. $40 a month savings x 12 months =$480. Sunday Ticket is thus covered for the 2012 season with about $140 to spare.

3) Given previous savings, plus $10/month free HD savings by having autopay for 2 years, the third year of Sunday Ticket is covered.

So I get Sunday Ticket through 2013 for close to free (see notes) compared to what I was previously paying. In 2014 I'll just figure it out. In 2015 there should be a new deal which hopefully allows a similar package for cheaper.

Notes:
1) You can get the same free HD deal on Dish Network but I previously did not take advantage because I always felt that "next year" would be the year that I would switch.
2) Because I live in a hurricane zone where Directv requires a special roof install, and because I have a slate roof which will not allow a dish, I had to pay $85 extra for a special installation which Dish Network does not require. In the end I still get Sunday Ticket for 3 years for about $40. I can deal with that.
