Look at how he plays now and then think about where he'll be in 3 years with a better understanding of the system and more talent around him.
Long story short, Cam Newton is not who we thought he was. I figured he'd be slightly better, if not just as bad, as Jimmy Clausen was last year, but he's quickly erased that misconception. He's shown that he has the talent worthy of being considered a playmaker down the road.
