Shanahan has had his hands on this team for nearly two years. The defense seems to be heading the right direction, but the offense seems to be getting worse each week.
It was Mike and Kyle's decision to ride with the Rex/Beck train. Fail. It was their decision to ride with this garbage O-line bereft of any depth to speak of. Fail.
I know we're 3 wins "better" than the worst teams in the league after week 8, but I don't think we're really too far away from the St Louis and Miami's of the world.
We haven't had a franchise QB since, who, Joey Sunshine? Until we get one, it will be the same thing over and over, year after year.

I'll bet the teams that appear to be turning the corner haven't neglected their offensive lines for more than a decade. San Fran spent two first round choices on interior linemen a year or so ago. Remember, before Trent Williams, there were
ZERO O-linemen selected in the first two rounds of the draft since Chris Samuels. We're seeing the results. Allen and Shanahan just haven't had enough drafts to assemble the line they really want.
