Palmer? Are you kidding me? I'm not even going to really address this because it is so ludicrous.
Ponder? Was considered a HUGE reach by the Vikings. Mallet? You serious? Dalton? Picked ahead of us in the 2nd round, and wasn't worthy of a high first round slot based on his evaluation.
So again, what QBs from the magical tree should Shanny have plucked from without mortgaging the future (again) and going for a huge reach just because they are a QB?

As terrible as our QB situation is, I tend to agree with you. I have no real qualms with this draft class as constituted. The only thing I would have liked to have seen in either the 2010 or 2011 draft was picking a developmental QB in rounds 4-7. I don't see any of the late picks we made in those rounds truly being an impact player for us so we could have been developing a QB to be no worse than a backup for the future.
I wasn't wowed by any of the rookie QB coming out other than Newton. Where we picked, I've got no issue passing on Gabbert, we didn't have a chance at Dalton in the 2nd round, there's no indication Mallett will be anything yet and we were smart in building through this draft and adding picks next year rather than trading picks to move up and around for a QB in the late 1st or 2nd.
Neither Beck or Rex will be on the team in 2012, I think we're going to draft a QB in the top 5 next year and add a free agent QB. I kinda wish we had added Matt Lienart in free agency to see if there was anything there but he may just be a lefty Beck.
