It's a valid point/question to be sure. Part of the time I want to see him walk. I was at the Seattle game last Sunday and from our seats could see the play where Landry went for the hit instead of the tackle (didn't even raise his arms btw) and the receiver bounced off him for something like a 20+ yard gain. As a defender that's just...indefensible.
If Landry was actually a consistent big hitter I'd give him the benefit of the doubt on the play from Sunday but the fact is he just doesn't lay the wood like some people want to pretend. I honestly doubt anyone in the league is afraid of Landry apart from late/cheap hits out of bounds.
Flip the coin: he knows the system and I stand by the observation he's neither the sickness or the cure in our secondary woes. If he can be retained for a modest price and won't be a bonehead about it re-sign him IMO...if he even hints at wanting big money or makes a single comment about being dissatisfied show him the door ASAP and (easily) find his replacement in the off-season.
