I can remember a whole summer of only getting 3 to 4 hrs of sleep a night 5 days a week. Then I would sleep in on Sat and Sun only to do it all over again.
To this day I sometimes still do it. Not all summer but I have found that as long as I get the same amount of sleep a night I'm ok but if I change up every night 4 hrs, then 6 hrs, then 3 hrs, then 5 hrs I'm more dogged then if I do 4 nights of 4 hrs of sleep.
